Earthenwear
Earthy yet colorful jewelry, some reminiscent of earthenware pottery, others of vibrant pastel paintings. All are of my original design, composed of several elements such as natural gemstones, pearls and wonderful glass beads made in the Czech Republic which glisten with satiny finish. I sometimes incorporate tiny glass Miyuki Japanese seed beads in hues inspired by nature. Every stone is unique and no two pieces created will be exactly alike.
These pieces represent the painterly, colorful side of my personality. I spread out all of my jewelry side by side and two distinct voices chimed in. As while in art school I was torn between solely concentrating on sculpture or painting, my two battling passions are now rearing their heads in my jewelry. Laying the jewelry out made my progression from complex to simple obvious to me but it also clarified something else. As an artist struggling always to grow but also find my voice along the way, I realized the congruency in my jewelry seems to be evident in my addiction to pattern and design merging with the spontaneity of the organic. Thus 'Earthenwear' and 'Silverwear' were born.
I use only precious metals in my jewelry, such as fine silver I forge by hand, elegant
Bali and Hill Tribe Silver from Thailand, sterling, and on occasion, gold vermeil.
